Can I Use Oil On Oily Skin?

If you were a teenager in the 1980s-2000s oil-free skincare products were in every teen magazine and ruthlessly marketed to us. I can't tell you the number of clients I have had over the years that are so fearful of products that contain any oil due to these marketing tactics of that time period. Sure, it may sound counter-intuitive to apply oil to skin that is already in oil-producing overdrive or prone to acne, but it may just be the fix your skin needs after all!

A few things to keep in mind. Research has shown people with acne-prone skin already have high amounts of oleic acid and low amounts of linoleic acid present in the skin. This means it's important to select oils that contain higher amounts of linoleic acid and lower amounts of oleic acid to help balance the skin.
