Homemade Croutons
There is nothing more that I hate when you find a recipe and the writer has their whole life story that is longer than a CVS receipt! GIMME THE DAMN RECIPE. So, for any recipe I share, I will limit myself to 3-5 sentences MAX for any intro. You’re welcome.
On that note, these homemade croutons are the perfect combination of crunchy, chewy, and delicious to boost any salad.
Ingredients:
4 Slices of bread of choice (I prefer whole wheat sourdough)
1-3 Cloves of minced garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
1 Tbsp. of Fresh parsley or 1/2 tsp. of dried
3 Tbsp. of Olive Oil
1 Tbsp. of Butter
1/4 cup of parmesan or pecorino romano cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven or toaster oven to 325°F.
Dice bread into bite-size crouton pieces.
Melt butter.
Mix garlic, salt, pepper, parsley, and olive oil in the melted butter.
In a bowl or Ziplock bag, pour the mixture over the diced bread and mix/shake the bag to coat the bread.
Add cheese to coat.
Bake on cookie sheet for 20-25 minutes.
Notes:
This is a good base recipe, but feel free to add in any other spice combination you want. Dried rosemary is delicious, or if you really like ranch, adding ranch powder is delicious too!
